distribution NE-India, SW-China, Nepal, Bhutan / plants can reach 4 m height / occurs in forested regions - needs a neutral soil with humus / deciduous and evergreen / hardy outside only with protection (saw a Daphne bholua ‘Jacqueline Postill’ in a garden in the Netherlands 2,5 m tall) / wonderful fragrance / fruits black / bark is used for paper-making /
Daphne bholua var. glacialis ‘Gurkha’ was collected 1962 by Major Spring Smyth in Nepal /
further cultivars are: Jacqueline Postill, Darjeeling, Peter Smithers, Rupina La, or Daphne bholua ‘Alba’
Hybrids with Daphne bholua are: Daphne x ‘Spring Beauty’ and Daphne x ‘Spring Herald’, Daphne x ‘Pompom-Pink’ and Daphne x ‘Rotkäppchen’
