native to W-Sichuan and Yunnan, mostly on higher hills between 2100 m and 2800 m / bushy or rocky slopes / deciduous / height up to 0,5 m (1,2m) / hardiness unknown / fruits are greenish-yellow (not seen)
beside Daphne gemmata, Daphne modesta is a further daphne with five lobed blossoms - the lobes of the blossom are smooth, -in comparison has Daphne gemmata a veins-structure visible and two lobes are different from the other three lobes
