Daphne arbuscula Celakovsky (1890)

 

distribution from Slovakia to Romania / on rocky slopes and calcareous rocks / height mostly 0,2 -0,25 m with prostrate growth, upright growing plants can reach 0,5 m (not seen yet) / evergreen / scented / hardy / fruits small and overseen because the inflorescence is overtopped by the new shoot

 

known selections of Daphne arbuscula are i.e.: Muran Pride, Diva, Grandiflora, Platyclada, Tisovec, or Maretkina

There are two white flowering forms of Daphne arbuscula one with hairy leaves and the other one is glabrous.

 

Hybrids with Daphne arbuscula are:

Daphne x adamantina [= D. x suendermannii],  Daphne x ‘Maisy Larae’ and Daphne ‘Geert Borgonje’,  

Daphne x deyli, Daphne x lundellii,

Daphne x medfordensis [= D. x susannae],

Daphne x schlyteri,

Daphne x splendida,

Daphne x ‘Liberton’  with parent Daphne x hendersonii ‘Rosebud’,   

Daphne x ‘Red Pearl’ with parents Daphne cneorum x Daphne x medfordensis,

Daphne x ‘Forarch’ with parent Daphne jasminea  and the unnamed but surprisingly hardy hybrid Daphne rodriguezii x arbuscula
